This Gorilla Super Glue project is so simple but has been in the making for eight months.

Back in fall of last year, one of our landlord’s handymen was throwing stuff out of the second story apartment while refurbishing it.  One of those items hit our poor old plastic yard table.  I tossed the two punched-out pieces into my gardening bag and figured I’d glue it later.

I didn’t want to use Krazy Glue because it dries so very quickly and the pieces were a tricky fit.  I didn’t want to use a slow-drying glue since I wouldn’t be able to clamp it and didn’t wan to tape it while drying.

Enter Gorilla Super Glue.  It dries quickly but not quite as instant as Krazy Glue.  Gorilla Super Glue is impact-tough thanks for tiny rubber particles in its formulation – it’s not brittle when hit.  Perfect.

A Few Notes:

1.  Consider wearing thin gloves (like medical gloves or cleaning gloves) to prevent glue from getting on your skin.

2.  Check for fit by fitting the pieces to be glued together before applying any glue.

3.  Keep a rag handy to wipe away excess glue from your project and to wipe the glue tip clean before replacing the cap.

4.  Read the bottle’s full instructions before using.

A few days after completing the table repair, I cleaned and oiled it (and cleaned it again) to remove grease spots and restore the table.  After doing so, not only did our table look pretty sharp, the repair became barely noticeable.

  2. Nice project… well done! i have plenty of projects to keep me busy.. i just purchased a bottle of the Gorilla Glue and am working on my “to do” list..

  3. Having been in the hardware business all my life I would recommend Gorilla Super Glue in a heartbeat to any customer. When I first got hold of a sample I tested in in ever way possible, using it correctly and incorrectly as I know customers will do. I could not get the glue to fail. I glued two pieces of glass to each other flat with no clamping and no prep. The glass broke but not the bond.

  4. I used to fix my steam cleaner the plastic piece broke where the water sucks up thats just my most recent use of Gorilla Glue I love it

  5. Due to the rubber in the Gorilla Glue, it will be the perfect thing to use to fix several hard cases for glasses that I have. The tiny “tongues” are cracked and won’t allow them to stay closed. I tried Super Glue but it is too rigid of a glue. Now I have found the perfect glue for that project and any other that might crop up. THANK YOU GORILLA GLUE for this fine product. I wouldn’t expect any less out of you as I already use all your other products. Can’t wait to get this one and FINALLY get those cases fixed for good! Terry Sharp

  6. I use gorilla glue on all my woodworking projects, I make chest using dowle rod construction and have never had any of the projects fail because the gorilla glue gave out unlike other brands I have used in the past….

  7. I have a drawer in my kitchen that needs a repair.. the back came off and I think Gorilla Glue is the thing I need to fix it.

  8. This is the perfect example of a fantastic project. I assemble and paint miniatures to play at small and large tournaments. The miniatures are highly detailed, and are made from either Metal or Resin, or both can be incorporated with the same model. Also I use other materials for highly detailed bases for the miniatures. Anything from gravel, to sand, to dental plaster. All of the handling that goes on while measuring distances and moving them around a game board can cause a great deal of stress. Most players lose parts on their models throughout the tournament. There is a distinct difference when using Gorilla Super Glue because it’s very difficult to break the bonds created with it. It’s nice to walk out of a 3 day tournament without having to do any repairs.

  9. Gorilla Glue has saved me more than once on repairing antique tables and furniture. Cannot be without it. (

  10. Another thought on your table, since there is still a little hole on one end, put some tape on the underside of the table and fill in the hold with Gorilla Glue Epoxy. then you won’t have to worry about junk building up in the crack. leave the tape on the back until the epoxy is set, and then peel it off. You could even sand it smooth, or use just leave as it cured…
LOVE Gorilla Glue. Just bought my first bottle of the Wood Glue and am looking forward to putting it to work!

  11. good project… wrong Gorilla glue used. The polyurethane glues are broken down by UV light. The repair would be expected to fail within 1 year. That outdoor table should have been fixed using epoxy:

Glue parts in place, tape from underside to hold in place (and seal cracks).

For a large repair you may want to laminate 1/4 to 1/2 inch plywood on the underside to support the damaged area.

After the assembly is done apply some more epoxy and immediately wipe down with a rag that is damp with denatured alcohol to fill any voids and leave a smooth surface.

    • I do realize the epoxy would be a better fit, but this repair was so small and most of the glued surfaces are in the crack of the table where I doubt the UV will reach. The pieces form a very tight fit, with only the one end (with the visible gap from missing plastic) exposed to light. Thanks for setting the record straight, though.

  12. gorilla glue is awsome, i swear by it and use it all of the time. about 3 yrs ago after a huricane our back porch light fixture was busted to pieces.A little gorilla glue and a little puzzel work and it has held up like new for the past 3 years, even with all of the heat and humidity hear in florida. that was the first time ive ever used gorilla glue, and ive been a loyal fan and user every since.

  13. I very recently became a gorilla glue convert, but I have only used the one glue product, I didn’t realize they had so many others. I will be watching all your projects this week for new ideas, as I have become very DIY-oriented over the last few months. Thanks!

  14. Well, GG is the best glue around in my opinion! I recently used it in making a hanging 6 bottle wood wine rack. Looking forward to GG making a Super Glue in the gel formula, at least I hope they do anyway!

  15. I always thought that gorilla was only for woodworking projects. now I know there are a variety of gorilla glues to fix nearly everything at home.

  16. Great comments and great projects! You can comment on this post until Wednesday morning, 8 am EST, to be eligible to win. A commenter will be chosen at random and announced then. Thank you everyone!

  17. This super glue will be great to repair my daughter’s violin. She dropped it and the tuner thing broke off.

  18. I am ready to use the glue to fix an expensive rocking chair that I broke when I droped it. Praying for good results. Have to pick up some long clamps

  19. I know it doesn’t sound like such a big project but I would use this to fix the sole of my shoe that is coming apart. Would it work for that? I hope so! Thank you for the opportunity!
